For imaging practices
Patients search for the imaging they need, see who offers it nearby, and send a request to the practice they choose — with their referral attached. You decide what your listing says, and you answer the request in your own time.
What a patient sees
They pick an imaging service and a suburb. Results show your practice name, address, the imaging services you offer, your typical wait, whether you bulk bill, and anything you want them to know before they arrive — fasting, what to bring, where to park. Your address links to Google Maps.
What you control
- Your name, address, phone, opening hours and booking-inbox email.
- Which imaging services you offer, and a note for patients about each one.
- Whether you bulk bill, and your typical out-of-pocket cost.
- A pause switch. Machine down, staff away, books full — pause the listing and patients stop seeing you in search. Requests already in your inbox are unaffected, and nothing is deleted.
All of it is yours to change from the portal whenever you like. There is nobody to ring and no form to submit.
What arrives
A request inbox. Each request carries the patient's name, phone, email, how they asked to be contacted, any notes they added, and the scan they are after. If they attached a referral, you can open and download it.
You mark a request contacted, confirmed, or scan completed, and archive it when you are done. Archiving never deletes anything — a booking is a health record, and it stays.
About the referral, plainly
Medicare requires the practice that performs the service to hold the request for two years and produce it to Services Australia within one business day. Book My Imaging deletes its copy of an attached referral after 90 days, on purpose — we do not want to be a long-term store of patient documents. So the copy that counts is yours. The portal gives you a download and records that you took it.
The three typed details that come with a request — who wrote the referral, their practice or provider number, and the date on it — go sooner still. We delete them about a week after the request reaches you, because the request email carries all three and that email is your record of them. After that the portal says they were deleted rather than pretending the patient never gave them.
Before a listing goes live
New listings are reviewed before patients can see them. We check your ABN against the Australian Business Register, so the business name on your listing is one the Commonwealth agrees with. You never type that name yourself — the register supplies it.
What it costs
Listing is free while we are getting started, and there is nothing to sign. No exclusivity, no contract, and no minimum. If that ever changes you will hear it from us well beforehand, not discover it on an invoice.
What the first few practices get instead of a discount is influence. Tell us how referrals actually reach you and we will build to fit your workflow before anyone else’s — we would rather feed something you already run than ask your staff to watch a second screen.
How to list
Sign in at the clinic portal with a work email or a Google account, fill in your details, and submit. You will see it marked pending until it is approved, and you can keep editing it in the meantime.
Questions
If something here does not fit how your practice actually works, we would rather hear it than guess. The site is early and is being built with practices rather than at them.
